"Is E-commerce a death or re-birth of retail market"

E-commerce has yet not reached the glory the world is talking about. There are still many who prefer the traditional way of shopping and they have a reason to do so.There are many things which can be purchased in a better way if seen, touched, smelt or felt before buying. I am in no way taking the sides of Physical retail stores. It is sure that the E-commerce is fast catching up with the Retail stores. The only way to remain alive is how are they able to offer better services as compared to E-retailing.

According to U.S. Census Bureau data, online sales increased 15.6% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2012. E-commerce sales reached $59.5 billion during this period, which represents 5.4% of the total retail sales.Several trends are indicating that the e-retail industry is driving away the customers from the traditional way of shopping.Factors are many like easy access to a wide variety of goods within the walls of your home while doing your daily chores. The one day delivery system started by these companies is also attracting many more customers. The inventory based model followed by many of these companies have allowed them to offer discounts much more than they would get from a store.

In today's busy world when one doesn't has enough time to go out for shopping these options offered by the companies is luring the customers towards online shopping. Some have predicted that as time passes by and people get more busy in their lives the dependency on e-commerce would increase.
